THE REASONS I DRINK. JERRY BARRY 2016
The reasons I drink are vast and infinite
Irishmen sometimes like to feel sad
Somedays I'm hot and just downright thirsty
My mischievous side just wants to be bad
The reasons I drink are varied and plentiful
Sometimes I just need a beverage that's cool.
At times I'm with a good friend who wants to
Encourage my impulse to act like a fool.
I drink cause I'm healthy I drink cause I'm sick
I drink cause the market is up or it's down
I drink because I'm happy to see you
I'll have one more drink if you'll buy the next round.
The reasons I drink are sane and logical
drinking gives me all my best thoughts
Anytime of day is ok And with
five o'clock somewhere I never get caught
The reasons I drink are flighty and fanciful
Sometimes it helps me to hope and to dream
It helps me to laugh when sorrow awakens
And makes things appear not as bad as they seem.
I drink in the summer I drink in the spring
I toast to each of the stars in the sky
I drink everyday except on a Sunday
Unless it's a Sunday that ends with a Y.
The reasons I drink are valid and rational
takes many hands or so I am told
To make a brew so sweet and delicious
creation of jobs is my number one goal
The reasons I drink are honest and plausible
hell in a bucket, enjoying the ride
Beer makes me sing and wine Gives me courage
And whiskey makes me, all warm inside.
I drink to transport my somber to silly
I drink in every tavern in town
I drink because I'm happy to see you
I'll have one more drink if you'll buy the next round.

THE WORKINGMAN. JERRY BARRY 2016
Here's to the man who works with his hands
Reaping the fields and plowing the land.
Here's to the woman toils by his side
With pride, they’ll get by.
Here's to the carter who carries the sheaves
His work is hard you'd better believe
His old hands are calloused but he never complains
About he pain, when it rains
It takes many hands to raise a roof
It takes a single voice to sing
It takes an open mind to understand
So let's raise a glass. Let's raise a glass Lets raise a glass
To the Workingman
Here's to the Miller and his great water wheel
Taking in barley and sending out meal
He makes the biggest choice on his head
It could be bread instead.
Here's to the brewer who toils through the year
Making this stout, ale, cider and beer
They sing while they work he and his crew
And their brew it is true
It takes many hands to make this brew
It takes a single voice to sing
It takes an open mind to understand
So let's raise a glass. Let's raise a glass Lets raise a glass
To the Workingman
Here's to the tender who stands at the ready
Her pour it is smooth and her hand it is steady.
Her humor is sharp and she listens well
Leave a tip, ring the bell.
Here's to the players who live for the stage
Who just want to play for you no matter the wage.
Singing their song with joy in their eyes
Sung with pride, we'll get by
It takes more than one voice to harmonize
It takes a single voice to cry
It takes an open mind to understand
So let's raise a glass to the working man.

Your Love is Beautiful

They don't like you sharing your life with your best friend,
They say it's a sin, just stop listening
They don't like you doing what's natural like holding hands
"That's not God's plan" just rise above
Your Love is Beautiful
Don't ever feel ashamed about loving who you love
People living in fear deny what poets have known for a thousand years
Your Love is Beautiful
People live in chains bound by guilt, bound by shame
But that's not your problem.
And theis life's a scary place til that one funny face
Takes your pain away.
Your Love is Beautiful
No one ever gets to decide about loving who they love.
People living in fear deny what poets have known for a thousand years
Your Love is Beautiful

AND YOU DANCE. JERRY BARRY 2016
Here's a sprightly tune to get you swaying
Something sweet to put you in a trance
Don't worry what others might be saying
My mood starts to rise
when you close your eyes
and you dance.
Here's a simple song to keep you moving
Get on the floor and take a chance.
Never fear of others disapproving
You're never more fair
than when you let down your hair
and you dance.
When you dance I wonder what you're contemplating
If you mind might be turning toward romance
I want to ask but find myself hesitating
When I see your connect
With sublime perfection
And you dance

RUSALKA. JERRY BARRY. 2013
If you're out in the night time walking
And you hear a strange melody
don't you listen to her plea
By the water there softly singing
Her love song to the moon
Don't you listen to her tune
Beware of Rusalka
Born a water goblin's daughter
Sister to the sprite
And she sing there every night
She sings for her unrequited
She sings for every woman scorned
As she takes on human form
Beware of Rusalka
She has hair like pure spum gold
Eyes of the deepest green
And the finest skin you've ever seen
By the water there softly singing
Don't you fall under her charms
Or you'll die there in her arms
Beware of Rusalka

A Farewell Song

A FAREWELL SONG JERRY BARRY and JIM HANCOCK
Farewell farewell farewell to you
May your steps be light
May your stories be true
Won't you stay one more night
And share some fine brew
And leave by the sweet morning dew
Farewell, goodbye, I know you must go
But stay one more day,
It's starting to blow
There's a fire in the hearth
And my hearts all aglow
And we still have ten pints to go
My friend may you always be happy
May your burden always be light
May you have all the strength
That you'll need on your journey
And a warm place to lie down
When you go to sleep at night.
Sun's on the rise and the last pint is tipped
The road lies there waiting may your voyage be swift.
In case from your true path you ever should drift
These simple words are my humble gift
Kindness should never wait til tomorrow
And grace can't be a pawn in the game that you play
Joy can never be bought , begged, or borrowed.
And you can't take love with you, so give it away.
The highway is calling I know you must part,
With the sun on your face and fresh wheels on your cart
Out on the road keep us in your heart.
Until your return and we're back at the start.
Here, it's no castle but it serves us well
Fresh pints on the table and us raising hell
With New lines on our faces and new tales to tell.
of the times that we stood up and the times when we fell
My friend may you always be happy
May your burden always be light
May you have all the strength
That you'll need on your journey
And a warm place to lie down
When you go to sleep at night.
